The Conserve the
Light
Gathering was held on May 8th and 9th 2007 at the Prince Arthur
Waterfront Hotel & Suites in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Overall the
event
seemed to be a success in all areas. The event saw excellent overall
attendance with over 150 delegates attending 10 workshops during
the two
day period.
The purpose for the Conserve the
Light Gathering was to introduce the Energy Efficiency & Conservation
Measures for Aboriginal Communities (EEMAC) conservation program.
One of the goals was to teach effective ways to conserve the light
in homes and communities. By sharing the information with others
in the community, everyone can help place First Nation people
as leaders in the field of energy conservation. The conference
was also created to learn more about Aboriginal perspectives on
electricity and energy conservation. |
