The
Beginnings of a Great Project - MARCH
29, 2007
Dear Tribal Chairs and Executive Directors:
Charles Fox Consulting Inc. has been retained by the Ontario
Power Authority’s Conservation Bureau to plan and develop
a program on energy efficiency and conservation measures for the
Aboriginal community in Ontario.
The program has four elements comprised of;
(1) To create awareness on energy efficiency and conservation
measures through an educational process for all our communities,
(2) The development of low cost energy efficient items and distribution
of packages of materials on energy efficient measures to all First
Nation households in Ontario,
(3) The development of extended measures through energy audits
and retrofits for six pilot projects in six communities throughout
Ontario,
(4) To host a conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation
Measures for the Aboriginal community of Ontario that will take
place in Thunder Bay on May 8-9, 2007at the Prince Arthur.
An Elders Council and a Network of Champions have been created
to assist with the planning, development and implementation of
this undertaking. These two bodies represent a cross-section of
respected individuals from across the spectrum of the Aboriginal
community in Ontario.
We look forward not only with excitement but with positive expectations
to the development and implementation of this program in our communities.
Personally I look forward to working with our people and our communities
on what I believe will be a rewarding and worthwhile project.
Please WATCH for the Registration Package and information on
the Energy Conference to be held in Thunder Bay at the Prince Arthur
on May 8 & 9, 2007.
Kitchi -Miigwech! Charles Fox
